Adventureland's testimonial comments and recommendations

I like that my two children of different ages get to see each other all day whereas two other centres I visited had separate wings and separate houses for the under-2s and the over-2s. I didn’t want my children to spend all day apart. They do different things for the under-2s and over-2s but they still see each other. They’re still in the same environment.

My son has a real connection with his teachers. They’re not just people who look after him – they’re like part of his extended family. He gets really good attention from the teachers. He is learning stuff all the time. They don’t just leave him in the corner until we fetch him in the afternoon. They do activities with him and I see he’s growing and learning more things. They teach him skills and encourage him to mature. He always comes home with something new that he’s doing.

There’s much more care. Dropping them there I know they can have the same routine they have at home. My son has very specific meal requirements because he’s got allergies and I know it’s never going to be overlooked. Everybody there is very well aware of what he needs.

I visited some other places and they were sort of friendly but at Adventureland I get a much more friendly vibe. They’re all very good to my son… it’s “Bye Max!” Even the kids. I’ve been there in the middle of the day to pick my son up to go somewhere and all the kids there go “Bye Max!” It’s just a really friendly vibe. It’s not like I pick him up and leave and no-one says anything. The other kids and the teachers all interact, they all make a point of saying goodbye.

I chose Adventureland for my two children because I liked the location which is close to home and close to work, and I liked the way it looked from the outside – nice and tidy. I like that my children are actually learning things that I don’t think they would in any other situation. They’re getting more one-on-one attention. I feel they’re really focusing on pre-school education at Adventureland and that’s important.

My wife did some pre-school visits in the area and she liked Adventureland the best. It’s a nice centre that has a family vibe to it. When you go there you feel welcome – the staff are all friendly. My son is really happy there. He’s really attached to the teachers. He comes home happy and he’s happy to go to pre-school every day, so if he’s happy, I’m happy.

The communication between the daycare and parents is amazing. They send emails each day so I get to see what they’re doing. And the kids are getting to do all sorts of different things each day. The emails to me mean that when we get home at the end of each day I can talk to my children about what they’ve done. I can ask them specific questions. My daughter particularly likes that I know what she’s been doing. I think my daughter is learning to write much, much faster than I would have expected and more than any of her friends at the moment.

We really appreciate the daily verbal feedback on our son’s day and their feedback on his behaviour when we collect him at night. We also like the daily electronic summary of what the kids have been up to.

I recently looked at quite a few other childcare centres and I think what makes Adventureland different is that they’re a family situation. They’re all very friendly and all very easy to communicate with. It’s not as big as other centres and I like that. It’s more one-on-one, more like a home environment.

The only thing we were worried about was what the transfer was going to be like for him, the change from being at home to being at pre-school. But he took to Adventureland quickly and everything seemed to go very smoothly. He went there and very quickly fell into the whole going to pre-school thing. There hasn’t been a time since we put him there that I’ve thought we should move him somewhere else. He’s been happy right from the beginning. They’re challenging him to mature and grow which is cool.
